About me

Hi, I’m Dagmara, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) based in Toronto, in private practice since 2023. My work is rooted in my own life experiences, personal growth, and a sincere desire to support others through their emotional journeys.

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by years of self-reflection, personal therapy, and a deep interest in understanding how people make sense of their inner worlds. Before entering the field of psychotherapy, I spent many years in the corporate world, which gives me a grounded understanding of high-functioning environments, pressure, and the ways people can appear capable on the outside while struggling internally.

Having immigrated from Poland, I am also familiar with the complexities of navigating change, identity, and belonging. These experiences inform a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to therapy — particularly for individuals who feel caught between different roles, expectations, or stages of life. My work is guided by curiosity, respect for each person’s story, and a belief that healing happens when experiences are understood rather than judged.

I specialize in working with attachment-related difficulties and trauma, including the impact of early relational wounds. Many clients come to therapy carrying patterns shaped in childhood that continue to influence their relationships, sense of self, and emotional regulation in adulthood.

I also support women navigating life transitions such as peri-menopause, menopause, and the empty nest phase, times that can bring emotional shifts, identity questions, and unexpected vulnerability. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of these changes, and move through them with greater clarity and self-trust.

Alongside my clinical work, I bring an understanding of family life and developmental change, which informs a thoughtful and grounded approach to therapy.

Whether you are seeking support through a difficult period or looking for deeper personal growth, I offer a respectful, non-judgmental space to explore what matters most to you.

Education

My education and training include an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and a Diploma from the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling College (a 5-year Master's-equivalent program). I'm licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).

I’m honoured to serve on the Board of Directors for CAPT, where I can help shape the future of psychodynamic therapy in Canada. I joined the board because I care about our community of practitioners and the clients we serve. My goal is to support accessible training, uphold strong clinical standards, and contribute to a field that has been transformative in my own life and practice.

Personal philosophy and approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that healing happens within safe, authentic relationships. I work with curiosity, warmth, and care, creating a space where clients can explore the emotional roots of their struggles without judgment or pressure to change too quickly.

Using a psychodynamic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed lens, we look at patterns that often form early in life — patterns that once helped you cope, but may now limit how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we work toward greater emotional awareness, self-compassion, and more flexible, connected ways of being.

Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, strengthen your capacity for regulation, and support growth that feels grounded and sustainable — not forced.
